Czech porn actor Connor James Danny

Nineteen-year-old Daniel, aka Connor James Danny, has been making porn for a year. He comes from a family of police officers, so you can imagine how his relatives cheer him on in his profession. But Daniel says that being in the porn industry has boosted his confidence and if he got an interesting modeling offer, he would quit filming.

Dan, how did you come up with the idea of doing porn?

From about the fifth grade on, kids at school laughed at me for being extremely gifted, so I started saying that one day I would be a porn actor. Well, one day I was in a crisis, broke up with my girlfriend, lost my job and got an offer from a friend to give it a shot. It took 30 days before I accepted. Then it all started.

You mean your porn career?

That's right. I did it for the money the first time, but then I got a call from the Bel Ami Agency saying they were interested. I had to start with gay porn, which I did for six months, and then I switched to straight porn.

Did you mind doing gay porn when you were straight?

Not at all, I have no problem sleeping with a guy. I would choose a woman to walk around town and hold hands with, but I don't mind having sex with a man. I think that's how I discovered that I'm bisexual.

What are you making now, straight or gay porn?

Depends on the offer, gay porn is much better paid.

What did your parents even say about your porn career?

I had to leave home to make my first porno. I knew they wouldn't understand. First of all, my dad, who is a cop, threw me out and yelled at me that I was never allowed to come back. To this day, he says his colleagues laugh at him for me. My mom was sorry too, but for two or three months, then she understood that it was just a job for me.

What's your relationship with your dad now - after a year of filming?

None, he still doesn't talk to me. I suspect he's not my real dad anymore. My features are not Czech and I have some evidence to suggest that. But no one wants to admit it.

What evidence do you have?

Five months ago I needed my birth certificate, which was actually the first time I saw it and the father's box was blank. When I looked at my mom, she immediately looked away and didn't say anything. I also found out that before I was born, my mom worked as a waitress at a place where Cubans were abundant, and I - as you can see - resemble a Cuban. And last but not least, I read a text message years ago that I actually only understood now.

Are you gonna look for your real dad?

I'll try to find him. I wonder who he is.

Let's get back to your profession. What does a good porn actor have to have?

You might expect me to say big privates and perfect looks and body, but that's not the case. There are guys in porn who have nothing between their legs and are ugly. But they have contacts and connections, or they just work on command. That's important in this business.

Did you happen to not work out?

I have, several times. Even in my private life. I've been suspended from a few productions because of it. I've had a pretty problematic time this Christmas - I broke up with my girlfriend, lost my job, got kicked out of my apartment - so I just kind of went on strike.

How are you doing now?

I've now been filming again for a while and it's been absolutely fine, so I'm glad and hopeful that the horrible period is behind me.

What is the porn industry like through your eyes as an actor?

Very enjoyable. It's like going to a friend's house for coffee. You come in, have a cigarette, talk it all over with your friends and get down to business. But on the other hand, people in this business are very money-driven and aren't ashamed to be bitches.

What's the result? You watch what you shoot?

I'm sure! Expressions and how it looks are important to me and of course how I look. Revealing is also important, to see what needs to be seen.

So has filming porn given or taken away from you?

I'm sure it has. I had low self-esteem, I was laughed at and bullied by kids in elementary school. I was better in high school, but it's only since I've been filming that I feel confident.

So what do you think of yourself now?

That I'm one of the youngest and best porn actors in the country. When I do something, I give a thousand percent, so I always try to give a great performance with added value. By that I mean I take care of myself - I exercise, go to the tanning salon regularly and keep myself in style.

You took some great pictures with Milan Junk. How did Milan impress you and how was it working with him?

Absolutely great, he's an amazing person. I was most pleased when he told me that he didn't see me as an ordinary porn actor, but as a nice guy with a modeling career. He just wanted to show me my other self with his photos and I must say he did it incredibly well.

So you'd like to break into modelling?

If I was approached by an interesting and reputable modeling agency, I would quit porn immediately. I've had some offers, but I really want to choose the right one and close this part of my life. So hopefully I can make it happen.
