Review: the Philips Lumea Epilator is the ideal solution for areas that are growing in more than you want!
I was very curious about the Philips Lumea IPL 9900 and was looking forward to its delivery. Already the first impression of the device when unpacking was favorable! I was very impressed with the sleek to futuristic design. Some might argue that the pink and rose-gold accents look too feminine, but that's not something that particularly bothered me. Included in the package are attachments for different body parts and also a dust-bag to keep the device from getting unnecessarily dirty.
I rushed to test it out immediately! One of the biggest surprises for me was how easy the device is to use. After the initial setup and connection to the Philips Lumea app, the whole process became a completely routine affair. The app itself tests your skin type using the integrated SkinAI system and recommends the optimal flash intensity. This minimises the risk of irritation or ineffective treatment. Plus, thanks to a clever reminder feature, the app always alerts me when it's time for another session - which is a total lifesaver for me, an individual prone to forgetting. Also great is the continuous flash feature, where you just hold the trigger and slowly scroll the device. For larger areas, this is the perfect solution.
After the first few weeks, I started to see the first results. The hair on my back, which had bothered me for years and spoiled my self-confidence, for example at the beach or in the sauna, started to thin out and the growth slowed down significantly. After half a year of regular use, the change is really noticeable - not only in density, but also in the overall quality of my skin, which is smoother and free of irritation. Yet the treatment itself takes no more than a few minutes a week. A small obstacle that has no solution, however, is the fact that you need assistance or a very flexible body and a set of mirrors when treating your back. Fortunately, my friend was willing to help in this regard.
The only minor thing that would deserve a minor adjustment is the visual aspect of the app. While it technically works perfectly, its interface is clearly designed primarily for female users. While this doesn't affect functionality in any way, I imagine that visually customising the app would mean many men would use the device with more confidence. At a time when we know that IPL devices are increasingly appealing to men who want to address similar aesthetic or hygiene concerns, this is a perfectly logical step in my opinion.
Overall, though, I have to say that the Philips Lumea IPL 9900 exceeded my expectations. The results and comfort of repeated body care clearly speak in favor of the epilator. If anyone is hesitating whether to go into home IPL epilation - my experience is clearly positive!
