Duolingo and standing in line for the plane. Which habits should you forgive yourself for when you travel so that Generation Z doesn't get "the creeps"?
Criticism like you wouldn't expect
Publicly posting videos on TikTok or Instagram topped the list of Generation Z's biggest travel "pet peeves", with one in four Generation Z respondents calling it "yuck". Quite ironic, considering that Generation Z may have been the most guilty of all. There is clearly some internal conflict within the Zoomer generation.
Respectful "fuzz" also ranked first: wearing culturally inappropriate clothing, which one in four (26%) of Generation Z respondents also labeled "yuck."
Heavenly love? Prefer a decent farewell
Next up was the overly dramatic farewell at the airport, proving that Generation Z is not a big fan of the opening scene from Love Actually, with roughly one in five (19%) of Generation Z respondents deeming it "yuck."

Generation Z respondents also expressed a dislike of carrying tourist goods (15%) and buying souvenirs (6%), so good luck if you want to bring back something to remember your holiday by.
In terms of other tech-focused "aspersions," Gen Z also dislikes people who document their entire trip via social media (12%) and people who use Duolingo (8%).
Applause or a backpack can also be annoying
Passport covers are officially out, and that includes Generation Z, who ranked them as one of the top ten travel "yucks." And in twelfth place, we have the ultra divisive decision to stand in line for a plane, which nearly one in ten of Generation Z officially considers a "yuck."
The new survey comes at a time when many TikTok and Instagram users have used these apps to report which travel behaviors they're "allergic" to. They often cited classic etiquette issues like clapping during plane landings, but there were also more specific complaints like carrying backpacks up front.

When travelling, travel casually
Annajane Güzel, global director of brand marketing at Generator, said, "This research shows that Generation Z travelers are rewriting the rules of tourism and prefer authenticity over outdated travel clichés."
"From skipping dramatic airport goodbyes to avoiding head-to-toe touristy clothing, it's all about appreciating a destination in a more thoughtful and casual way. The message is clear: blend in, travel smart, and leave out the obvious 'touristy' maneuvers."
