Brno Christmas has balls and expands reality!
A friendly atmosphere and meetings, a daily music programme, Christmas trees, not only Christmas food and drink, good deeds and experiences and gifts including those with the hallmark of Brno. All this is the Brno Christmas! The basis remains the same: four Christmas-decorated squares and one courtyard connected by illuminated streets.
It is the courtyard of the Old Town Hall that has undergone the biggest changes this year. Here you will taste Gourmet Christmas, or the best of Brno gastronomy, as the offer will be taken care of by companies from the Gourmet Brno guide. As you wander through the Christmas markets, be sure to try out the augmented reality of the Brno Christmas posters via QR code and enjoy the original WINDOW POP CITY exhibition in the windows dedicated to what Brno's furnishings might look like.
As Brno is a UNESCO European Creative City of Music, you can also enjoy a daily music programme in the central Liberty Square in addition to drinks from the large Winter Bar. The genres range from folk, choirs and songsters to jazz, swing, R&B, world-music, Balkan and musical, and the atmosphere of the late evenings is enhanced by musical mixes created for Advent. Dozens of craft stalls will fill Zelňák, a large wooden nativity scene and a carved star that glows in the evening will enchant you on Dominikánské náměstí, and you can take a scenic ride on a Ferris wheel and skate on Moravák.
If you add to the skating the climb up the 173 steps to the 63-metre high tower of the Old Town Hall, where you will have Christmas Brno in the palm of your hand, you can once again plunge boldly into the Advent feast without worrying about not fitting into your Christmas Eve outfit. Christmas in Brno is simply here to delight you, perhaps even pleasantly surprise you and get you in the mood for the most beautiful holiday of the year.
Their special chapter are gifts from Brno, which are loved by locals and tourists and appreciated especially for their originality, wit, quality and the fact that local creators are involved in their design and production. Every year TIC BRNO comes up with a new Christmas collection and this year is no different. The classic one, in the visual style of Brno Christmas, is decorated with the unmistakable playful "fairy-tale-folklore" style of the artist Vendula Pucharová Kramářová. In her artwork for Brno Christmas, she accentuated gastronomy and decorated mints, chocolates, pancakes, key chains, tin cakes or canvas bags with it.
Another novelty is the Bruna collection (Bruna is Latin for Brno). It is being launched on the occasion of the Brno Christmas 2023 and will be gradually expanded in subsequent editions, so that everyone can gradually create "their own". It consists of white and mother-of-pearl mugs designed by Jiří Hlušička and produced by the Goldfinger porcelain factory, and glasses identical in shape and size to the mugs made by glassmaker Oto Svoboda from Glassfictions studio in clear or iris glass.
And the burning stump? Anna Vodrážková and TIC BRNO are launching candles in the shape of three Brno icons - the black astronomical clock from Svoboďák, the white Pavilion A of the Brno Exhibition Centre and the iconic stump that burned on 21 August 2012 in Kohoutovice and was known all over Brno. There will also be the popular Christmas limited series of balls from the astronomical clock, this year with fluorescent pigment, or handmade TAMASVIGH flasks for TIC BRNO. So hurray for Brno markets or www.darkyzbrna.cz!
P.S.: And when you finish your drink at the markets, don't forget to donate your cup to charity. Because nowhere is it as easy and pleasant to help as at the Brno Christmas. Donate a cup!
