For excellent gastronomy and Emil Filla's frescoes, head to the Art Restaurant Mánes
The Art Restaurant Mánes is located just below the famous Šítkovská Tower, which was also home to Jaroslav Foglar's scout troop. The spacious building was built in 1928-30 on the site of the former Šítkovské mills as a residence for artists and it is still visible today. On the ceiling you will find frescoes by Emil Filla, which are of incalculable value.
There is also an original grand piano in the restaurant, once played and composed at by Jaroslav Ježek, a collaborator of Voskovec and Werich from the Liberated Theatre and the author of such famous songs as Bugatti Step or Dark Blue World. Regular piano performances are also held here every Friday and Saturday.
But most people don't go to the restaurant just to enjoy or listen to the music. It's nice to have a nice and spacious interior, but the culinary skills come first. And at Mánes, you'll really enjoy yourself. The menu here is mostly in the spirit of Czech and French cuisine, put together by a team of experienced chefs led by chef Jaroslav Zahalka.
Both steak lovers and vegetarians will find their own here, for whom we can recommend, for example, the delicious goat cheese with beetroot mash. And those who like something "traditional" from the point of view of our grandmothers' cuisine, but untraditional from the point of view of today's gastronomy, can go here for a delicious baked snails.
In the space where the best gastronomy and art are combined and where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Vltava River and its left bank, various events and events are held. Mánes will also come in handy for those planning a grand celebration, as almost all the spaces are connected and you can celebrate outside. But even those who want to enjoy good food and drink in private will not miss out. For them, private lounges are also available. In addition to the two restaurants, Mánes also has a Lounge Bar and Art Café in the same building.
So when you wander along the waterfront this early spring, you'll already know where to go for a delicious meal and an artistic experience.
