Swiss hotel chain offers special quarantine stays with coronavirus test
Le Bijou is a Swiss chain of luxury hotels. It has branches in Zurich, Lucerne, Basel, Geneva and other Swiss cities. The hotel chain, which offers very superior service even during normal operation, has come up with an interesting idea to take advantage of the current coronavirus pandemic. It has turned rooms in its hotels into so-called "quarantine suites", where you can order room medical services or coronavirus testing.
For one night, even less than 50,000 crowns
The price for one night in these apartments ranges from 800 dollars (about 20 000 CZK) to 2000 dollars (about 49 000 CZK). For a coronavirus test, visitors will pay an additional $500 (just over CZK 12,000). There is also a charge for the actual visit of health professionals, coming to $1,800 (approx. CZK 44,000) for two visits per day and $4,800 (approx. CZK 118,000) if you would like to have a health professional available on call.
In addition to medical care, there's in-room meal delivery and spa treatments, a private chef or a private fitness room.
Clients of the hotel have expressed interest in quarantine stays
Alexander Hübner, the managing director of the Le Bijou hotel chain, said the idea to provide additional services in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic came from guests themselves. In fact, the typical three-day bookings have been increasingly replaced by fortnightly bookings in recent weeks. Many guests have decided to quarantine themselves in the hotel, so rooms have been booked for much longer periods.
As a result, Managing Director Alexander Hübner decided to enrich and adapt the hotel's services. Although there have been a few detractors who have criticised the hotel chain, in addition to luxury stays for the rich, the hotels also provide accommodation for medical staff who work overtime in nearby hospitals, completely free of charge.
