REVIEW: Shaving like the future. New from Panasonic, a design gem for those looking for style and a way to save space in their luggage while traveling
From the first contact with the product, it is clear that it is not just an ordinary shaver. With a bit of exaggeration, it could be said that it is a functional jewel that will be appreciated especially by those who crave something special and want to distinguish themselves. For such products that, yes, fulfill their function, but beyond that, also go beyond the mediocrity of the available competition. The Panasonic ES-PV6B is a minimalist gadget that looks like it fell out of the Apple portfolio - appealing, unique and perfectly fulfilling the function it was created for.
A design that fits perfectly in the hand. And for life.
Gone are the days when we were forced to use razors with bulky handles. The Panasonic ES-PV6B is more like a small rounded stone that fits naturally in the palm of your hand. It's not a shape that serves a purely design function: it's a design decision that has its practical reasons. Thanks to the compact body, you can even reach hard-to-reach places during shaving, such as around the nose or next to the jaw. Perhaps that's why I felt like I was holding a tool from the future when using the razor. The razor is lightweight, sturdy and highly elegant.
We got the white version for testing, which looks very clean and sophisticated. This version is made of NAGORI® material, which is composed of mineral components of sea water. Visually, the material resembles a granite pattern or natural stone, giving the product a completely unique identity. And as a bonus, you can feel good that you are using an environmentally friendly product.
The machine also comes in a luxurious leather case that follows its shape, making it the ideal travel companion - it will take up as much space in your backpack or other luggage as a tennis ball. What's more, it looks so presentable that you won't be ashamed of it even in a five-star hotel bathroom.
Ideal for two days of stubble
If you have a longer beard - say, about an inch or so (like I had during my first test shave) - and plan to shave it smooth, it may take a little patience. The machine did handle them, but let's just say that's not quite its domain. It's designed primarily for daily or bi-daily use, meaning shorter beards or a few days' worth of stubble. In that case, the result is perfect: a smooth shave without irritation, and very quickly too.
What is definitely worth highlighting is the possibility to shave dry or wet. That means you can shave with foam or even directly in the shower. The machine is 100% waterproof. I tried dry shaving during the test and the result surprised me: no scratches, no irritation, no redness, as is often the case with cheaper shavers.
Time-saving technology. And nerves.
The Panasonic ES-PV6B is equipped with a powerful linear motor that works at up to 70,000 cross cuts per minute. This makes for a very consistent and smooth shave: there's virtually no pulling or snagging. The head features five Japanese stainless steel blades, with the inner blades gently curved to follow the shape of the face and ensure maximum contact with the skin.
The result is a shave that is not only fast but also gentle on the skin. Beard Sensor+ technology automatically adapts the motor's power to the density of the beard, so the transition between differently hairy areas is completely seamless. Simply put - the motor power increases where more beard growth occurs. Well, don't you think it sounds almost futuristic?
Ideal for travellers
Another big advantage is the charging method, which occurs via a regular USB-C cable. So even if you forget or lose the original cable, you can get a new one virtually anywhere in the world (unless you're already using this cable to charge your phone). You can fully charge the machine in about one hour and the machine can last up to 45 minutes of continuous operation on a single charge, which is very good for such a small device. So it's really made for those who are constantly on the move and need to save space.

Something a little short of perfection
If I were to identify any weak point, it is the absence of any beard trimming attachment. The machine is really only designed for smooth shaving. Thus, if you prefer a well-maintained stubble, you will need a second device. But that may also be a sales pitch: the Panasonic ES-PV6B isn't a "jack of all trades", it's a specialist in one particular activity, which it handles admirably. If trimming is also your thing, there's a whole range of products in Panasonic's range designed specifically for trimming facial hair. And who knows, maybe we'll eventually see a product upgrade that comes with trimming attachments as well. I just hope that the upgrade won't take away from the beauty for which it is so specific...
Finally,
The Panasonic ES-PV6B is certainly no ordinary shaver. It is a stylish accessory and a clear proof for the statement that even practical things can be beautiful. Its minimalist design, high functionality, great portability and wet and dry shaving options make it the perfect partner for the modern man (or anyone who's into style and comfort). If you're looking for a razor that's not just a tool, but a useful gem, this is the product for you.
