To Bastion Prague Restaurant for art, amazing cuisine - and maybe even a wedding
The building does not protrude into the panorama, but its garden provides a magnificent view of Vyšehrad and the Nusel Valley. The overall impression is complemented by an exhibition of bronze sculptures by Ota Janeček. The sensitive building by architects Miroslav Cikán and Pavla Melková, which was created by revitalising a neglected part of the walls, was also awarded the Architects' Grand Prix in 2012.
But it's not usually just art or modern design that people go to the restaurant to admire. You can go to Bastion for a very interesting fusion of Czech and French cuisine with an emphasis on home preparation of all ingredients. And even those that are not made directly in the local "laboratory", they come only from the best and proven local suppliers.
If you're looking to get to know the local cuisine, we can recommend the six-course tasting menu to get you started, featuring dishes such as cherrywood-smoked tartare, delicate lavender goat cheese with maple syrup, nuts and roast pear, and Fillet Bastion, which is slices of tender sirloin interspersed with Parma ham and grenaille chips.
Each course is paired with a slightly different wine. But don't worry, the wine stock here is almost bottomless, you'll find some real archival gems and wines you won't find in other restaurants. How about a taste of Israel's Mount Hermon, a lively, crisp and wonderfully animalistic wine that will forever destroy your preconceived notions that all kosher wines are sweet? But you can also enjoy a plethora of the finest wines from the Czech Republic, France and Spain.
Spacious and elegant restaurant furnished in the best design is an ideal place not only for luxury lunches and dinners, but also for various events, celebrations and parties, even weddings. So if you want to say "I do" to your partner, you can do so in a really unusual and stylish place.
What more to say? Perhaps just an invitation to come and experience the beauty of Bastion with your own eyes and palate. LUI wishes you a good taste and a great artistic experience!
