Sexy and talented? These are 6 Czech (and Slovak) actors who are hot right now
A complete list of skilful and handsome Czech and Slovak actors would be very long indeed. But with a heavy heart we had to shorten it, and so in our list you will find names that have been mentioned a lot lately.
Šimon Bilina
This native of Příbram, who graduated in drama from the JAMU in Brno, probably made his mark on the memory of Czech viewers with his role as the quirky tough guy Adam "Haďák" Hruška in the TV series Zoo. In addition to episodic roles in several other series on both Prima and Nova TV, the likable actor can also be seen on the theatre stage. Bilina has starred, for example, in the ABC Theatre and will also be appearing alongside singer-songwriter Tomáš Klus in the upcoming musical Branický zázrak.
Vladimír Polívka
A regular feature of Saturday nights on Prima TV has become the series Cop, in which you will come across several handsome actors. The central duo of investigators, played by Vladimír Polívka and David Matásek, are brimming with the charm and wit of two generations. And although both of these gentlemen are highly sought after, you can see Vladimir Polívka in new films practically every year, in addition to the series.
Vojtěch Dyk
Singer and actor Vojta Dyk probably doesn't need much introduction either. Most of us probably immediately think of his unique voice and range, but lately he has been working a lot on film and television in addition to his music. One of Dyk's freshest roles was as the unconventional chemistry, physics and PE teacher Marek Vlček in the Nova TV series Pan Profesor.
Karel Jirák
You've probably heard of Czech Television's hit TV series The Nineties. But if the mania around this project has passed you by, you should at least know that its cast was worth it. In addition to the well-known names such as Martin Finger, Vasil Fridrich, Ondřej Sokol, Michal Novotný, Matouš Ruml or Bořek Slezáček, the series also featured several new faces. Among them are actors Kryštof Bartos, Vojtěch Babišta and 27-year-old Pilsner Karel Jirák, who, apart from acting, is also a fitness enthusiast.
Roman Tomeš
This actor has probably been the most successful with TV viewers with the series Doctors from the Beginning and Slunečná. But his theatre and singing career is also noteworthy. He has excelled in Prague's Broadway and Kalich theatres, and in 2015 he was even nominated for the Thalia Award for the lead role of Roger in the rock opera RENT. The fact that Roman Tomeš is not bored is evidenced by the fact that he has released a solo album.
Ján Koleník
We cannot leave out the handsome Slovak Ján Koleník, who seems to have withdrawn from the Czech film and television scene for a while after the end of the much-loved series The First Republic. However, his gradual return to domestic screens culminated mainly with the film Happy New Year and its sequel last year. Currently, Koleník's art and muscles can be admired in the eight-part series Ultimatum, while the attractive actor has been fully occupied in recent weeks in our neighbours with his participation in the Let's Dance competition, known in the Czech Republic as Star Dance.
The list of Czech and Slovak actors worthy of attention would certainly deserve more space. Milan Peroutka, Jan Nedbal, Jan Kopečný, Lukáš Hejlík, Stanislav Majer and Tomáš Maštalír are increasingly entering the hearts of the audience. So it is no exaggeration to say that whether it is theatre productions, films or TV series, there is definitely something (or, more importantly, someone) to watch in the Czech Republic - literally.
