"I'm living a lie and I'm taking it to my grave," admits the 60-year-old, who has been seeing men intimately behind his wife's back

People's destinies are different, and some still haven't found the courage to declare who they are. This is also the case of a married man in his sixties who, as he grew older, became increasingly aware that he was more attracted to men than to his own wife. What is it like to live someone else's life and hide your true identity?

You're currently living with your wife, who you say you're not attracted to. How long has that been going on?

Yes, I'm no longer attracted to my wife, not even to young girls. I have been observing bisexuality in myself for the last ten years or so. What I mean by that is that I seek out and meet men.

So you didn't start showing it until you were about 50?

It started when I got my first computer. That's when the first opportunities came along. But it's true that even back in the day, when I saw porn on the first videotapes back in the communist era, I was looking for men more than women. But today, when I watch a video, it's mostly gay porn. When I was maybe 15, I had friends who I did things with occasionally, but it wasn't the same. I didn't think much about it. But the first encounters came with the first computer, when I could chat with men.

What was it like for you meeting a man for the first time in so many years? Weren't you nervous?

I'm sure I was. The first time was very, the second time was better and now it's great. Now I'm experienced.

So who exactly are you attracted to?

Definitely younger guys and men under 45. I've been with an older guy a few times, but it's not the same. When I look at my own decrepit body in the mirror, I...

Nobody gets younger...

It's true, everyone gets old. However, I'm happy if someone young just exchanges a few messages and chats with me when they don't want to meet anymore. For example, I'm corresponding with a guy who's studying law in England. He's doing an internship there and will be back in Prague in June. We sometimes text in the evenings, so it's not just about meeting.

So you're not just looking for sex?

No, I don't. But once we've had a chat, I know that the person is from the area, so I usually start talking. (laughs)

Where do you text men?

On dating sites, but that's where most of the writers are. I guess everyone just settles for texting you. There are very few guys who want to actually meet.

But I guess it took you a while too, especially since you're living undercover?

I'm sure. I was 50 years old when I started. I remember traveling to see an older guy who was also married. He didn't have a place, so we were out by the river, and we made do there. I was always nervous that someone would see us. In the end, I didn't even enjoy it.

You said you were attracted to younger guys. Are they willing to date an older man like you?

Yeah, they are. They'll go out with you. I've got one here in town that I've been seeing regularly for about five years. He's about 28 today, I met him when I was 24. He lives with my mom and my sister and we've always met at his place. He's found two girls recently and doesn't know which one to go for, so I'm giving him advice. But sometimes I get a call from him and we have a little fun. You don't know how many people like that there are. I think there's a lot of guys who want to try it too. I'm sure everyone's thought about it at some point.

Anyway, in real life, you live with a woman. So your dates have to be discreet?

Yes, they are. For example, I've been home alone for two days now. So sometimes someone will visit me or I'll go somewhere. Or if I'm going on a trip to my daughter's, I'll stop somewhere on the way.

You have kids?

Yes, one daughter.

She doesn't know anything either?

No, she doesn't. Only my wife might suspect something. But I wouldn't confess if the wheelbarrows were falling. At my age, it would be very strange, my wife wouldn't accept it.

But you said she suspects something...

Yes, because sometimes I get texts. She even found me on a dating site with a naked picture of me. Then it was a circus at home for a fortnight. But I kept it all quiet. I said I wasn't going out, I wasn't seeing anyone and it was fine. She believed me, got over it and lives with me.

So when you're home alone, you bring the boys to your house? Aren't you afraid your wife will find out?

Yes, I do. I always have to make sure my wife is away. Just to be safe, I always call her and make sure she's away and she's definitely not coming back in an hour.

But it's still risky, isn't it?

You know, then I search, clean, vacuum, wipe and cover my tracks. However, unless she catches me in the act, I won't confess.

And that's never happened before?

She caught me sitting with a guy on a webcam once. But she didn't see the guy. I didn't have time to turn it off. There was a sermon going on for a while. Then she confiscated the webcam, hid it, but I'm not even looking for it anymore. Now the camera's on my phone anyway. However, this is new technology for me and I have to learn. You know, I'm 60 years old, so I'm trying. I do everything in anonymous mode so there's no trace anywhere, and I delete photos as soon as someone sends something.

And why don't you want to actually say it and set the record straight? Are you afraid to leave your wife?

I certainly wouldn't want to leave her. We understand each other and have been together for almost 40 years. My family would take it hard, and I have a lot of friends in the area.

So you're determined to take this secret to your grave?

I'm sure I am. I'll tell you the truth, if I were alone, I wouldn't bring a woman into my house. I'd rather stay alone and always invite someone over.

You never confided in your family, but what about your friends?

Neither have I. When I meet someone, it's usually married people who are the same way. It'd be hard to open up to acquaintances in that regard. If I didn't know that maybe they were like-minded, I wouldn't. Most of the men and women in my neighborhood condemn homosexuals, including my wife. I always hear opinions and name calling that they are faggots, etc. I always ask my wife how she can tell and she says just look. Then I think to myself, why can't she tell on me?

It's true that you grew up under the communists, it must not have been easy to come out with something like that...

Not at all. It was very frowned upon at the time.

Do you think if you'd grown up in a later era, it would have been different?

I think so. It's very different nowadays. I know of people who live together and live together and the neighbors know about it and take it in stride.

Is your reticence due to the fact that you live in a small town, for example?

I'm sure it is. We live on the outskirts of town, and have for some 40 years. So we have friends all over the place. They'd all look at me funny. You get a little lost in the big city. Plus, I was a senior executive at a big local company, so the word would get around. I'd be the talk of the town. I wouldn't be comfortable.

From the tone of your voice, it sounds like you're taking it pretty well, but it must be bothering you a lot inside?

It's hard. Sometimes I can't handle it mentally. For example, even when I'm walking around town and I'm on the bus, I look down on men, but when I'm with my wife, I jokingly appraise women and say how pretty they are. I have to restrain myself a lot.

Would you be able to approach someone on the street?

I'm sure you wouldn't. I might get a few slaps.

Anyway, when you start texting someone, don't you have a public photo anywhere? Aren't you afraid you'll send your picture to someone you know?

Gee, that's happened to me before. I once had a guy text me that he knew me from work, but he immediately told me not to worry, that he was discreet. So far, I haven't encountered any unfair treatment. That's why I prefer to turn on the web and show up on the web lately. You never know who you'll bump into and what they'll do with the photo.

How about if you ran into one of your neighbors like that?

You'd be surprised, but I've run into a neighbor. Forty-something guy, just down the street from us. We talked on the phone for a while, and he says we know each other. Then I looked up the phone number and found his business. Anyway, he said not to worry, and we've been together twice so far. Today we wave at each other when he drives by. He's scared to come up to me, too. Everyone here knows him, he's married, he's got two boys, so it's not an option.

So you're sure the four percent of gay men in the drink doesn't apply?

Four percent gay, maybe. But there's a lot of guys like me. Do you know how many people like me are on dating sites? An awful lot!

And you don't consider yourself gay?

I'm more bisexual, except I'm married. Although admittedly, I've been about 100% lately. I'm 100% attracted to men. The tastes are enormous. It always lasts until orgasm, then it passes a little, and the next day it's on again. Anyway, I've decided to live the life I've decided to live, so I'll be an actor for the rest of my life.
