Through the eyes of a straight man: give me hate or hearts, but Kubenka vs Sergei is just about gaining popularity in my opinion. But the worst part is the amount of denial
What do we have here? You may know that better than I do. But in my eyes, there's a tough rapper who's been fed drinks from the Barn on one side. And a gay man who's been popularized by a reality show. And as Instagram and TikTok show, it popularized him a lot. And that's it. That's all I see. Just those two.
He's got them fish. She's got a fish. He's got the net.
One is saying something the other denies. Tough talk, but appropriate for the public media space. One claims to have made the other his concubine. The other claims that for the slander, he's now making her his. Figuratively. You know, as a straight guy, I honestly don't care. Until now, I thought we were okay here. That we were getting close to being open. Something's not just gonna break us. But obviously it will.
Tens of thousands of negative comments. Hate. Hate. Hate. And that frankly surprises me. Maybe you'll try to give me lots of interesting reasons to understand why that is. But I don't know. Because what happened? Honestly? Nothing for me.
One guy slept with another guy. Allegedly. I don't really care if it's true or not. I don't question who's right and who's wrong. Because that's their business. Let the guys sort it out with Instagram, songs, lawsuits or face to face at Clash of the Stars. Their thing. What surprises me, though, is the amount of negativity around it. I could probably understand a few negs here and a little bit of neg there. But this? Is this really appropriate right now? I mean, it's never appropriate, but now during Prague Pride? Now, when just a month ago there was a fight for marriage for all? This is really not good publicity.
I wonder. Why?
Yes, I'm forcing myself to think to answer two questions. First, why did Kubenka pull it out? And why is Sergei fighting back?
Honestly, I have two simple answers to the second question. One. It's not true. Two. It's true, so he's defending himself because he probably feels it would hurt his image. That's why he's pulling hundreds of girls as witnesses. But where the truth lies, only those two know.
As for the first question, I have a nagging feeling that this is purely and simply an effort to boost his popularity. Otherwise, I really don't know why Kubenka would bring it up. It was his first guy and could it be construed as coming out? I don't think so, do you? So again. Why? I already have the answer for myself.
True or false? Their fight
I'm not taking sides. I repeat. Where the truth lies is frankly irrelevant to me personally. But I am sorry for the message this case sends. Because the only thing that comes out of it is negativity. It's not like Ondřej Brzobohatý. There was a groundswell of support. Well done, Ondra. We applaud you. Be what you want to be. My caption? Tiffany Ritchbitch is on the scene, welcome. Okay. But this? That just sends out hysteria, negativity, lynching, hate.
You know, even if it were true. And the two of them are running together. So just because Sergei styles himself tough and starts a fight with a guy doesn't give his fans the right to threaten stabbings and physical assaults. On the other hand, it doesn't give the right to make fun of the tough guy for having a pickle season himself.
What do I expect? I'm under no illusions that Segreia's fan base is open to reasonable debate instead of hard-hitting explanations. But on the other hand, when the majority of Cuban fans are apparently convinced of the veracity of their idol's statements, I would expect more support and understanding. Even if Sergei rejects it. Or he doesn't care. Whatever.
We're trying to create an environment that's open. Nice. When two people have sex, no one raises an eyebrow. Turning their backs. Swearing. On the contrary. It's their business. Whatever they want to do at parties, whoever they want to do it with. Let the racy stories feed the tabloids. But their connection is weird? Why is that? Whether or not they were sympathetic to each other, it's just their business. Someone's always gonna say something out of line. But trust me. This is already over the line. Sorry, like.
