The rainbow parade filled Prague. Prague Pride celebrated 15 years and attracted tens of thousands of people
The parade lasted approximately two and a half hours and passed without any serious incidents. Hundreds of police officers, criminals and an anti-conflict team were on hand to oversee security. A small group of opponents of the event appeared at Příkop, but was separated from the participants by police.
Drummers marched at the head of the parade, people danced and DJs from several music stations played along the route. Participants carried rainbow flags as well as symbols of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and the EU. Parents with children, representatives of embassies, companies and politicians were also present. This year, the parade was without vehicles with internal combustion engines.
Pride Park with Aneta Langerová
From the afternoon onwards, the Letná Plain was transformed into a Pride Park with six stages, a fair and stalls. The main attraction of the evening was the performance of singer Aneta Langerová. The programme continued until 10 pm.
"Rights are still insufficient"
According to festival director Kamila Fröhlichová, this year's turnout is comparable to 2024 despite the bad weather and the postponement of the date. The introduction of an entrance fee to Pride Park has not deterred visitors from attending," she said.
This year, Prague Pride once again showed that it remains a powerful symbol of visibility, solidarity and social support for the Czech queer community and its allies.
