Rome boasted a new rainbow train in support of the Pride march. It will keep passengers happy all summer long

Rome's public transport company, Atac, has launched a special rainbow flag train that will run throughout the summer. This "train of inclusivity" has been created to promote human rights and to celebrate the upcoming Pride march that will take place in the capital on Saturday 15 June.

With this initiative, Atac not only wants to celebrate Pride, but also to remind people to respect human rights. The train is covered with a rainbow flag on the outside, and all the seats are the same colour. The deployment of the train was announced through a video (see below) created in collaboration with advertising company Kirweb. The video quickly went viral and garnered more than 100,000 views in the first three hours.

Although it is an interesting attraction for tourists in particular, such an initiative is not new in Italy. In the past, for example, public transport vehicles in Milan and other cities were decorated with rainbow colours during Pride month (June). However, this activity can also be found in other European cities as part of a wider trend where transport companies are using their platforms to promote various community values.

Atac has long been committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity. The company strives to ensure that public transport is a safe and welcoming place for everyone, regardless of their background or identity. This rainbow train initiative is the next step in their efforts to promote a culture of acceptance and support in the city.

The company was founded over 100 years ago and is now one of the largest providers of urban transport in Europe. Atac operates an extensive network of buses, trams and metros covering an area of approximately 1,300 km² and serving more than 940 million passengers a year.

During various cultural and social events, Atac regularly offers discounted tickets and special services, and has long-standing partnerships with various non-profit organisations on projects aimed at improving accessibility and quality of transport for people with disabilities.

In this way, Atac not only raises awareness of important social issues, but also strengthens its role as a key player in public transport and community development. The "incentive train" project is thus a great example of how public services can play an active role in promoting positive social change. The Rainbow Train not only contributes to Pride celebrations but also reinforces awareness of values such as equality and respect.
