Spindleruv Mlyn - unforgettable experiences all year round
I planned my next trip to Špindlerův Mlýn after the wonderful weekend I had spent with my friends. Back then we were staying outside the centre of the picturesque mountain town, which I decided to change on my next trip. I wanted to enjoy my stay in Špindlerův Mlýn to the fullest, so I found it most convenient to stay in the centre, yet within walking distance of the cable car to Medvědín, in the famous Hotel Savoy, which had already captivated me during my previous stay, when I had admired it from the street.

Everything worked out well, and together with my friend I booked a weekend package of a romantic stay for two at the Savoy Hotel, part of the Asten Hotels chain. Although we are not a couple in love, unlike most who book this package, it didn't matter at all because the program of this package was so catchy that everyone will enjoy it. We stayed in a Superior room, which is the basic category. Despite this, the room was a lovely 30m2 filled with luxury and opulence with a beautiful view of the Elbe River and the newly renovated Soyka Hotel next door, also managed by Asten Hotels.The package also offered a lavish buffet breakfast, a bottle of Prosecco and a sweet temptation on arrival, a three-course dinner at the SAVOYA restaurant & lounge, private hire of the hot tub with candles and romantic decorations, and unlimited access to the sauna and relaxation zone at the local Spa by L'Occitane. It was simply irresistible.
The location of the hotel is excellent, being in the very centre - on the left bank of the Elbe River, which is itself very romantic thanks to the public park that lines the riverbank and leads you safely to the hotel. Although it is normally quite problematic to park a vehicle in the centre, as part of our accommodation we had not only an outdoor car park right in front of the hotel, but also an underground garage. Even so, a porter took charge of our car immediately upon arrival and took care of not only the car but also our luggage. We were able to check-in at the reception and enjoy a welcome drink of sparkling Prosecco.
Our room was in the style of Frank Sinatra, who is one of my favourite singers, and other rooms are similarly named after famous stars. So you can find rooms for Marilyn Monroe, Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery and others. On the walls of the corridors and rooms you can meet these stars in the form of large-scale photographs.
We will remember this stay for a long time
Of course you expect perfect accommodation and service from the Savoy Hotel. The bed was so comfortable that I almost didn't want to go exploring the beauty of Spindleruv Mlyn and its surroundings. I also enjoyed a pleasant moment of relaxation in the newly renovated bathroom. But what was best of all for me was the restaurant and the delicious food. The whole concept of the restaurant is inspired by nature. It mixes the Czech gastro scene with elements of international cuisine and the food is not only a feast for the sweet tooth, but also for the eyes. Gourmets, vegetarians, children, and even foodies who just like to enjoy a coffee and a cake will find their taste here.
In the evening after our arrival, we took advantage of another item on our weekend itinerary, which we had booked as part of a romantic package. It was a dip in the Jacuzzi, which was ready for us at the appointed hour, along with beautiful ambient lighting and romantic decorations. We were able to enjoy our private bath undisturbed and relax properly before the day ahead, when a trip to the source of the Elbe River awaited us. With many miles planned, we were glad we chose the Savoy for our stay as we were perfectly relaxed and prepared.
Charged all year round
Spindleruv Mlyn can be enjoyed at any time of the year. In the winter you will find plenty of ski slopes, while in the summer you can enjoy pleasant hiking on the beautiful surrounding trails, which was also our case. We visited, for example, the Pančavský and Hanč waterfall, the Elbe hut, the Elbe spring and, as the weather was really perfect, the views of the surroundings were unforgettable. All the hiking destinations can be easily reached on foot directly from the hotel and you don't have to get up, which is actually a big disadvantage with bigger mountains. You can also help yourself with the nearby cable car that will take you to Medvědín.
Like in a fairy tale
If you have decided to visit the Giant Mountains and would like to enjoy the highest possible standard of accommodation and service, I definitely recommend the local hotel Savoy, managed by Asten Hotels, which is the best, the best, not only in Špindlerův Mlýn.
