Quiet elegance: Logitech delivers a stylish keyboard and mouse to brighten your work environment
Design and first impressions
Right out of the box, I was pleased with the overall design. The keyboard and mouse are available in several colour combinations, I had the opportunity to try out the white and orange set, and although these colours don't exactly suit my more or less brown work environment, it doesn't matter at all, because at least it looks unconventional and modern all at once. The keyboard is compact, with rounded edges and low-profile keys that have a slightly concave shape for more comfortable typing. The mouse is small (which can be a problem for people with larger hands), rounded and blends perfectly with the keyboard.
What I wasn't happy with, on the other hand, is the fact that the keyboard lacks a backlight. Personally, I'm used to working late into the night without a light on, and since I'm certainly not alone, it's good to be prepared for this fact. However, this can be solved with a small adjustable lamp that only illuminates the keyboard. The lack of a number pad is also quite limiting, but if you don't work with numbers on a daily basis, you can get used to it quite quickly.
Typing and ergonomics
Typing on this keyboard is like dancing your fingers across soft moss, thanks mainly to the material it's made from - recycled plastic. Logitech is doing this to promote sustainability and reduce the environmental footprint of its products. In addition, the packaging is made from paper sourced from FSC™ certified forests, which also helps to protect the environment. The low-profile membrane keys are relatively quiet when in use, which will be appreciated not only by users but also by everyone around. Although the keyboard lacks adjustable feet for changing the tilt, its shape is suitable enough for normal use and even after a few hours my wrists did not ache.
Mouse and its functions
The POP Mouse is lightweight and small, making it an ideal choice especially for users with smaller hands. Its size makes it easy to fit in the palm of your hand and convenient to carry around. This is especially appreciated by those who often work on the go. In addition, its light weight minimizes hand fatigue during prolonged use. However, its very size can be a disadvantage for users with larger palms.
One of the biggest benefits of this mouse is the SilentTouch technology, which reduces clicking noise by more than 90%. This means that even with heavy use, you can make phone calls, watch videos or conduct online meetings undisturbed without being bothered by typical clicking noises.
Connectivity and compatibility
A great advantage of this kit is the ability to connect up to three devices simultaneously using Easy-Switch technology. Switching between your laptop, tablet and phone is a matter of pressing a button, greatly increasing productivity. Both keyboard and mouse support Bluetooth LE and are compatible with Windows, macOS, iPadOS, iOS, Android, ChromeOS and Linux.
Customization and software
With the Logi Options+ app, you can easily customize the functions of the action keys and mouse buttons to suit your needs. For example, you can set up special keys for quick access to your favourite apps or functions, and the keyboard also offers a special button to call up the emoji menu, which is especially appreciated by emoji lovers and active social network administrators.
Battery life
Logitech promises up to 36 months of battery life for the keyboard and up to 24 months for the mouse, which is more than impressive for wireless devices. In practice, this long battery life means you can almost forget about changing batteries, which you'll appreciate especially with heavy daily use. You don't have to worry about constantly recharging or searching for replacement batteries, which adds to the overall user convenience.
Of course, I didn't have a chance to verify the promised values during testing, but if they are true, this is a great benefit that reduces overall operating costs and maintenance worries. Considering that Logitech uses energy-efficient technologies in their devices, it's likely that these figures are not far from reality. Additionally, longer battery life also contributes to a greener side - less frequent battery replacement means less waste, which is another point in its favor.
In conclusion...
If I had to sum it all up at the end, the Logitech POP Icon Combo set definitely pleasantly surprised me. It's a set that definitely won't go unnoticed - you'll either instantly love it as a whole, or dismiss it due to the lack of a few features. I belong, albeit with small reservations, to the former group. Overall, it has a refreshing feel on the desk that brings joy and energy to the workspace, something we often underestimate. If you're looking for something to bring a little personality to your work nook, it's definitely worth considering.
