Penis tattoos are a treat for the brave. How does the process work and what do men with ornate adornment complain about the most?
Does a tattooed penis sound like a hardcore indulgence from an adult fetish movie to you? It doesn't have to be. Intimate tattoos may be one of the least common body decoration techniques, but for some people it's also a way to love their body again. There are, of course, a number of reasons why someone would get their genitals tattooed. Ornamentation, curiosity, humor, wanting to impress, ritual reasons, sentiment... Actually, it's no different than any other tattoo.
But it's different when it comes to shame and fear. While tattoos have long since ceased to be just for gangsters, body modification is still shrouded in a certain misunderstanding. And when you combine that with the fact that in this case, it's an organ that many can't talk about without blushing, even in front of a doctor, the spiciness is out in the world.
Groping only from a woman?
The biggest problem for men who opt for a penis tattoo? Getting a tattoo artist willing to do it, with a bit of hyperbole. Yes, a tattoo artist. Because a lot of straight men resent the idea of having their junk touched by another man. "They want to be able to say they got their tattoos from a chick, not a guy," says Jaded Moon, one of the most respected intimate tattoo artists in the world.
She became famous precisely because she did tattoos at a time when it was primarily the domain of men, and because, as a woman, she didn't turn down a man asking for a penis tattoo. Plenty of tattoo artists - and women - refuse to do these tattoos. The reason for this, of course, is not necessarily their shame, but the fact that the penis is a sensitive and delicate organ, and to tattoo it you have to know exactly what you're doing. It's not like tattooing your back or your thigh. The skin on the penis is thinner. And you also need to deal with the fact that the skin needs to be taut for the tattoo.
You don't need an erection for a tattoo. And there's no risk of
One of the most common myths about penile tattoos is the assumption that the limb must be erect during labor. But it's not only not necessary, it doesn't even happen by mistake. "Guys like to tell me on the phone that they'll probably have their penis hard all the time," Moon shares her experience. But in her entire career, it hasn't happened even once. In fact, Moon even bets them $1,000 if they manage to have an erection while tattooing. "I've never had a guy even come close to getting something like an erection."
You don't need an erection for the tattoo itself, you just need to stretch the skin on your penis. Sometimes the tattoo artist does it with one hand, sometimes the client helps by holding his or her own utensil. Sometimes there is even a creative solution, such as stretching the penis over a drink can or other object. A lot depends on where the tattoo is placed and how big it is supposed to be.
However, the erection is usually needed at the very beginning, when the tattooist needs to redraw or transfer the design onto the skin using a decal. Which, of course, can be a problem in an unusual situation. "I had to keep running to the toilet to masturbate briefly and my penis would get erect, but as soon as the tattooist touched me to start drawing, it would immediately go limp again," confides Hugo, who has a comet on his penis.
You also need to be shaved before tattooing. The hair would get in the way of the tattoo artist. Not only because you can't see through them, but also because you can't get the stencil decal over them and they make a mess during the tattoo itself. It is also very desirable to wash before the procedure. So that you feel comfortable and also so that you don't smell under the tattooist's or tattooist's nose.
A penis tattoo hurts like any other. With one exception.
"It was one of the least painful tattoos I've had," says Lezsek Pietrzak about his experience. "I got a tattoo on my palm, and it was horrible. Weird painful experience, so I expected it to be similar on my penis. That it would be hardcore. I was surprised how mild it was."
The painfulness of a tattoo on a man's junk depends mostly on where you get it done. Because there's a difference between getting a tattoo machine at the root or body of your penis or on your glans. While most of the surface is not that sensitive and tattoos hurt "normally" there, the glans is a whole different category.
Zdroj: Giphy"It's like an orgasm in the sense that you can feel it throughout your body and for a brief part it takes control of your breathing," describes Velvet, who has an ovation tattooed on his glans. "Except instead of it being pleasure that flows through your body, it's pain. The only other thing like it I've ever felt was being shot with a taser." For those unfamiliar with guns, we'll explain: A Taser is a police gun that shoots small needles into you and then releases paralyzing electricity. And that says a lot about the painfulness of a tattoo on the nerve-riddled tip of your penis.
More harm than good
When it comes down to it, a penis tattoo is unmissable. Not that you can see it in "normal traffic", but once you're in a situation where you can see it, it's hard not to notice and pay attention to it. Which can sometimes be quite detrimental. A curiosity that some men acquire to attract attention can become such an attention grabber that it kills the original point of why someone had your organ in front of their eyes.
"Once one of my lovers noticed I had a penis tattoo, stopped what he was doing and started asking me a lot of questions. He would just stare at my penis while holding it in his hand and analyze my tattoo," Reynaga describes. Velvet, who was so pained by the tattoo, however, has no regrets. "The fact that I could decide what my penis would look like helped me cope with the dysphoria of circumcision."
