"Third Coming Out" of the publisher of the only Czech LGBTQ+ magazine LUI: Jakub Starý's (not only) musical project highlights the necessity of self-acceptance
Fear is not retreating
Although Jakub dealt with his coming out on a personal level a long time ago and to some extent built a successful LGBTQ+ media outlet from that title, the year 2021 was a turning point for him. I got scared of expressing myself, but now I am convinced that fear must not be given in to. And that if something comes from the heart, it can never be a bad choice," Jakub sums up how the whole incident affected him.
It was this assault that led Jacob down a path of doubt, of imaginatively hiding who he was, but which did not turn out to be "the right direction". So this is what the whole project Coming Out, Vol. 3, which is based on six very intimate songs, also thematizes. As well as pointing out the need not to lose faith in oneself and trust in people. Because quality interpersonal relationships are the key to a happy life. And that's regardless of orientation or identity.
Coming Out, Vol. 3
A musical project, an album, a "coming out again" and an attempt to sum up the whole process of self-awareness in deeply personal songs that directly touch on how a person can deal with himself, his imperfections and his fears. This is exactly how one could sum up what Jakub has put into each and every song. Coming Out, Vol. 3, however, is not just an album to listen to. It is a kind of "personal therapy" and encourages us to reflect on how the world around us shapes, limits and inhibits us, how we succumb to these influences (albeit unintentionally) and how hurtful it can be for a person. But there is always a way out, a way in. It is never too late to seek and find it.
The album Coming Out, Vol. III., is available for free listening on Spotify and Apple Music from Sunday 11th August.
