There is no doubt Rei Kawakubo is a genius and her label Comme des Garçons is a proof of that. Earlier this week MET Gala payed homage to her and her label and she undoubtedly deserved that. And thanks to Vogue we can get a glimpse of the backstage scenes at Rei Kawakubo’s Spring/Summer 2017 fashion show. And it is definitely worth seeing!

Kawakubo found her inspiration in a classical story by Hans Christian Andersen. „The Emperor’s New Clothes“ is a tale about a sovereign who loves fashion more than anything. Once he meets dodgers who pretend to be tailors promising to make a dress that would only be seen by clever and worthy person.

And Comme des Garçons transforms the story into a fashion collection with almost naked models beneath layers of transparent PVC and suits with prints that were designed in collaboration with Fornasetti. The looks were completed by unique crown-like hairstyles.
